Parent Weekly

Good afternoon MES Parents,

We are providing experiences that empower our students to reach their greatest potential!

Our personalized learning clubs or "Chief Time," are off to a great start! Pictured on the cover are students in the art club. They have been naming and identifying objects in the real world associated with colors and shapes which reinforces geometry standards. Students choose clubs every nine weeks based on their preferences. Allowing choice provides them with empowerment to create their own learning pathways. Other clubs include soccer, cooking, legos, crafting, pokemon, jewelry making, puzzles, piano and drumming, dance, and drama. Ask your child about their club.

Parent WeeklyPictured above are students in Mrs. McDonald's room using discussion boards and collaborative conversations during their math lessons.

Teachers are lifelong learners. On Wednesday, they worked hard to plan with their teams so they can provide the best for our students. Teachers spend countless hours of their own time working hard because they love your children like their own and want only the best for them. If you would like to give a teacher a shout-out, you can do so on this link at Teacher Shout Outs This link is also found in the "Quick Links" on the MCSD website.

Parent WeeklyAnother way we empower students is by giving them leadership roles. Fourth and Fifth Grade students are currently campaigning for the MES Student Council. Our Student Council meets regularly to help make decisions for our school, learn leadership skills, and take part in service learning projects. Elections take place soon. Once council members are elected, they will be inducted during our PTO meeting on September 17 at 5:30 pm.

Our first Parent University was held this week. We missed you! We would love to have more parents involved in this wonderful opportunity to learn more about important topics on parenting. It is also a great way to stay involved and up-to-date on the school. Please plan to join us for the next one on September 26 at 9:30 am at MES.

Mark your calendars, Dad's and "Dad Figures" for our Dad's Day on September 19. from 7:30-9:00 am. More information will be coming soon. Dads are invited to bring their children to school on this day and have a motivational message from Coach Jones.

It is hard to believe our first interim reports will go home on Tuesday, September 3.

The school will be closed on September 2 for the Labor Day Holiday.

Be sure to support our school fundraiser by shopping at schoolstore.com.
