On September 19, 2024, MES and MMS held our 3rd Annual Dad's Event. The men and students were lined up outside waiting to walk their children to breakfast and class. Then they attended a meeting with a message from Coach Jones.
"Mentoring can help youth as they go through challenging life transitions, including dealing with stressful changes at home or transitioning to adulthood. Close, healthy, supportive relationships between mentors and mentees that last for a significant portion of time (i.e., more than one year) are central to success. Mentoring can provide a mentee with new development opportunities by offering guidance and support in areas such as skill development, career advancement, and personal growth. A mentor can share their knowledge, experience, and insights, and provide feedback and advice on the mentee’s performance." -Interventionalist Coach Kevin Jones
Coach Jones went on to encourage the men to continue to participate in their child's education. He also thanked them all for being there today. We are excited to say that this has been a growing event. The first year, we had about 30 Men attend, last year we had about 50, and this year we had over 80 men come to school with their children. We also appreciate the MHS student-athletes for participating. They sat with students and engaged in conversations at breakfast and then also walked some students to class.
We encourage all parents to come to the school and stay involved in their child's education. "It takes a village to raise a child." We are fortunate to have a village in this community that cares about our students and their future.
