Good afternoon and happy Friday, Report cards were mailed out this week. Be sure to look for those. Education is a partnership between parents and the school. What role do you play in your child's education? How do you keep high expectations for their learning? Teachers will begin scheduling parent conference with you. Remember to turn back your clocks on Saturday Night. There is no school on Tuesday, November 5. Let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Have a great weekend!

Good afternoon parents,
Our busy week this week included a celebration of students who earned academic achievement awards for scoring "Meets", "Exceeds", or for meeting their growth goals last year. Congratulations to all of the students for earning these awards.
We also celebrated Red Ribbon Week. CornerStone and Mrs. Dana Brock presented a presentation to students. The teachers enjoyed dressing the part this week as much as the students. On our "Happy to be Healthy" day we celebrated Mrs. Stacey Durant as a cancer survivor. We are blessed to have her at MES.
MCSD is hosting a supply drive in the middle school gym tomorrow, October 26th from 10 am to 1 pm. Many items including clothing (kids, women, and men), towels, sheets, toiletry items, and many more will be available.
Report Cards will be mailed home on Monday. Teachers will be setting up conferences soon with you to discuss your child's progress.
Let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
Have a great weekend!
Ms. White

Good evening parents,
It has been a great week. I hope you heard our exciting news about MCSD achievement gains with the recent State Report Card rating being published. MES has moved even higher in the average range. We are also above the state average in the area of "Student Progress". This continued growth takes a strong partnership between school and home. We appreciate your support in continuing to focus on achievement.
We have another busy week coming up. On Monday and Tuesday, second-grade students will continue the required Iowa testing. Wednesday is an Early Release Day. Students dismiss at 11:30. On Thursday we will be celebrating Academic Achievement. Flyers have been sent home to students involved. We will also be celebrating Red Ribbon Week. Please see the flyer.
As always if you have any questions or concerns, please give us a call.
Have a great weekend!
Ms. White,
Principal, McCormick Elementary School

Subject: Important Updates for MES "Little Chiefs" and Parents
Good afternoon,
I hope you all are doing well and recovering from such a devastating and challenging couple of weeks. It made us so happy to see some of you on the bus routes, in the community, and at the complex. We are planning to return to school on schedule, on Monday, October 14.
A few things on our calendar for the week are as follows:
1) Second graders will be taking CoGat and Iowa testing beginning October 16, 17, 18, 21, and 22. Please be sure students get a good night's sleep and arrive on time.
2) Students have signed up for their new "Chief Time" Clubs. These begin on Wednesday.
3) Unfortunately, The Good News Club will not start as planned. The organization hopes to get the program running in the early spring.
4) MES will celebrate Homecoming. Students can show their spirit by dressing up on Thursday as a Celebrity Look-A-Like and on Friday showing your "Chieftain Pride!"
5) The MCSD Academic Celebration scheduled for Monday has been postponed until Thursday, October 24.
Thank you for your continued support. We are looking forward to being back on our regular schedule and seeing you Monday! Let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or areas of support you need.
Sincerely,
Angie White
Principal, McCormick Elementary School

Good evening,
We know these are challenging times for our community. You all are heavily on our minds. We hope you are safe with shelter, food, and water. Multiple food and water distribution sites are set up throughout the county. We will continue to keep you posted as we learn information in regard to food sites and other resources. Stay safe.

The volleyball game and all after school activities have been canceled for Thursday (9-26-24).

The MMS football game that was scheduled for today (9-25-24) has been canceled. Because of the many adjustments made to the football schedule throughout our state, there are not enough officials.

This is a reminder that tomorrow is Picture Day at MES. Students need to wear uniforms tomorrow for this first picture day. We will have another picture day in the spring and students will be able to dress up for that one.

Good evening,

The cafeteria will not be prepared to serve the adults, but no worries Dad, we will have something for you in your meeting.
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to call us at the school.

Good morning,

Good evening,
We are having a great week at MES. We wanted to let you know that students will be taking MAP testing on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. MAP Growth scores help teachers check student performance by measuring achievement and growth. Teachers use results to tailor classroom lessons and set goals for/with students.
Since MAP Growth tests provide immediate and accurate information about your child’s learning, it’s easy for teachers to identify students with similar scores who are ready for instruction in similar skills and topics, and then plan instruction accordingly.
Each school year, students in grades K-5 take the tests in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. Following each testing period, you will receive a Family Report showing a summary of how your child is performing academically. We plan to mail these reports home with your child's interim on September 3.
Please be sure your child is present and on time each day for these tests. Speak to your child about taking their time and doing their best. Reach out to your child's teacher or the office if you have any questions or concerns. Have a great evening and stay safe.

Good evening MES parents and guardians,
The student's first day is approaching at lightning speed! We are so excited to welcome them back this Friday. We hope you have already completed registration! Students not registered, before Friday, will not be able to stay on the first day. Be sure to attend Open House Thursday sometime between 3-6 pm. Parents will not be able to walk students in on Friday morning, so this would be a great time to meet the teacher and bring your school supplies. We will also have a table for you to get your car rider tag. For safety reasons, this year, you MUST have the tag in your car to get your child at the car rider line. If you do not have the tag, you will be directed to the front office to go inside and sign them out.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to call the school.

Good evening MES Chiefs, This is Ms. White with important announcements regarding the 2024-2025 school year. We hope you have had an exciting break! I hope you are well-rested and ready to come back. The first day of school for students is Friday, July 26. All students must be registered with proper paperwork, before the first day, or they will not be able to stay at school. We will be having an Open House for you to get your child's schedule and meet the teachers on Thursday, July 25 from 3:00-6:00 pm. Make plans to attend to ensure your child has an amazing start to the year. Parents will not be able to walk their children to classrooms on the first day of school. Our mission is, "At MES we create school experiences that empower students to reach their full potential." Our theme this year is, "Be a Bean. Transform your environment." (Coffee Bean). To do this, it takes collaboration and communication among us all. We look forward to partnering with you to give your child a "World Class" education.
