McCormick High School was honored to have its very own Class of 2019 Valedictorian, T'Laysha Creswell, back on campus to speak to students! She was one of our Middle College students who was very active in various extracurricular activities. T'Laysha is a 2024 graduate of Clemson University (full ride), where she traveled/studied abroad in Denmark, London and Sweden, was a member of the marching band, as well as PEER/WISE.
(The mission of Programs for Educational Enrichment and Retention (PEER) and Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) is to educate, recruit, and retain students in STEM fields through mentoring, academic coaching, and academic enrichment. https://www.clemson.edu/cecas/departments/peer-wise/index.html)
T'Laysha emphasized that getting scholarships and doing well in college starts now. While she made straight A's from 1st-12th grades, she admitted that she realized even she needed some tutoring in college. She encouraged students to have fun, but use their resources, ask for help, take advantage of any co-op or internship opportunities, and be disciplined.
T'Laysha is relocating to Texas this week to put her Chemical Engineering degree to use with Dow as a Production Engineer. We wish her the very best!
