McCormick County School District hosted its fourth annual Leadership McCormick on Wednesday, December 4th. Nearly 30 community stakeholders were in attendance for the event. Participants had the opportunity to learn about our district initiatives, tour classrooms, and provide feedback on implementing the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. What a great day we had connecting with our community leaders! We are so grateful for the support they provide to our World-Class Chiefs.

JROTC: Historically, these coins are given as a token of appreciation, recognition, and pride for service members who have gone above and beyond their duty. Superintendent Dr. Hembree received the first coin. What a honor!

Ahead of the Thanksgiving Holiday, our Board of Trustees and Superintendent wanted to thank our staff for their hard work over the past year. For the first time since 2010, all three schools are now performing at an average report rating. Dr. Hembree presented each employee with a $500 check. "I am filled with gratitude for our entire MCSD family and their hard work, dedication, and commitment to world-class excellence! Every person in the district plays a role in student achievement, and we are incredibly proud of the tremendous strides we have made!" Dr. Hembree
As a reminder, Tuesday, November 26th, was designated an inclement weather makeup day that we did not need to use. As a result, there is no school on Tuesday, November 26th.
We wish all of our students and their families a very Happy Thanksgiving break! We are so grateful for all of our Chiefs! We will look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday, December 2nd.

We are excited to welcome 2 new board members and 2 returning members to the McCormick County School board. Looking forward to the work and Experience they will bring to the table.

This one just came through:
(Message from Dispatch) McCormick County has received and are prepared to distribute meals ready to eat and drinking water to the citizens. Gates will open at ten a m and the last car will be tagged at one p m. The location is 341 Dorn facility road.
McCormick county is receiving supplies today to distribute to the public. There will be an announcement of when and where citizens can pick up supplies. Any communication that the Commission of Public Works is shutting the water off is false. All power companies are out doing their assessments to reestablish the power grid. We are attempting to regain our infrastructure to gas stations. Currently the Fast Point on south mine street has both fuel pumps operational and the Citgo of Modoc on Highway 28 South has one fuel pump operational. We are aggressively working to get other gas stations operational. We are currently working to open up a medical special needs shelter. As soon as we have a secured location an announcement will follow. If you need ice to cool medications you may come to the Emergency Services Headquarters at 608 South Mine Street and acquire ice, but you must present the medication. You may also charge medical devices at this facility.
If we receive any other updates, we will be sure to push those out as well. Please take care.
Sincerely,
Dr. Hembree
Good Evening Chiefs,
First and foremost, we hope you are safe and well. We know that our entire community is facing significant impacts from the storm. We have also learned that many roads within the county are impassable, and power restoration may take several days.
As a result, we are canceling the Fall Intercession that was scheduled for September 30th-October 3rd.
The safety and well being of our students, staff and community is our top priority right now.
We hope that all of you continueto stay safe and well, and we hope to see all of you soon.
Sincerely,
Dr. Hembree
