McCormick county is receiving supplies today to distribute to the public. There will be an announcement of when and where citizens can pick up supplies. Any communication that the Commission of Public Works is shutting the water off is false. All power companies are out doing their assessments to reestablish the power grid. We are attempting to regain our infrastructure to gas stations. Currently the Fast Point on south mine street has both fuel pumps operational and the Citgo of Modoc on Highway 28 South has one fuel pump operational. We are aggressively working to get other gas stations operational. We are currently working to open up a medical special needs shelter. As soon as we have a secured location an announcement will follow. If you need ice to cool medications you may come to the Emergency Services Headquarters at 608 South Mine Street and acquire ice, but you must present the medication. You may also charge medical devices at this facility. If we receive any other updates, we will be sure to push those out as well. Please take care. Sincerely, Dr. Hembree

Good Evening Chiefs, First and foremost, we hope you are safe and well. We know that our entire community is facing significant impacts from the storm. We have also learned that many roads within the county are impassable, and power restoration may take several days. As a result, we are canceling the Fall Intercession that was scheduled for September 30th-October 3rd. The safety and well being of our students, staff and community is our top priority right now. We hope that all of you continueto stay safe and well, and we hope to see all of you soon. Sincerely, Dr. Hembree

Good Afternoon Chiefs, This is Dr. Hembree from McCormick County School District with an important message. Due to the forecasted severe weather moving into our area from Tropical Storm Helene, an e-learning day is scheduled for Friday, September 27th. The current forecast for our county calls for wind gusts up to 50 mph Thursday evening into Friday morning. The combination of strong wind gusts and excessive rainfall may result in flooding, downed trees, and potential power outages. E-learning assignments will be posted in Google Classroom for students to complete. Should power outages occur, students will be afforded the opportunity to complete their assignments at a later date. Additional details regarding assignment completion and expectations will be forthcoming from your child’s school. Please note that we will follow a regular schedule for Thursday, September 26th, but all afterschool activities and athletics are being canceled for Thursday afternoon and evening. We will continue to monitor the forecast and coordinate with our county emergency services team. Please stay tuned should any additional changes need to be made. Thank you in advance for your attention to this vital message, and please stay safe. Respectfully, Dr. Hembree
